Blakroc 2 - The Trailer (Video)

Blakroc 2 is coming, and now we have some solid evidence to silence the speculation. Two years after releasing Blakroc, The Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney (in partnership with Dame Dash) are back in the studio recording a follow-up to their first rock/rap collaboration. Aside from the Keys, Jim Jones is the only returning cast member to make an appearance in this sequel, the rest are fresh faces to the Blakroc roster. More may be added before it goes in the can, but for now we can expect BR2 to host the following: Talib Kweli, U God, Jay Electronica, OC, Curren$y, Wiz Khalifa, Sean Price and The Cool Kids.

No release date set for this project yet, but if it sees distribution some time before the end of this year it might be the second Black Keys album we get. Numerous sources have reported the completion of their seventh studio recording and follow-up to last year’s fantastic Grammy Award-winning Brothers album. Produced once again by Danger Mouse (who also produced 2008’s Attack and Release), expect this to have a new sound for the Keys. According to Auerbach, it will include “more guitar and rock ‘n roll” referring to it as their “fastest” work to date and citing The Cramps, The Clash and The Rolling Stones as main influences. Fuck yeah.
