This is the newest – and my personal favorite – track from Zola Jesus. If you haven’t heard of her, she’s a singer, but she works with instrumentals that are constructed from post-punk and whatever genre uses dark, deep synths. It’s really good stuff, and she has a powerful voice.
The voice is why, if I had to compare her to any other female vocalists, it would probably be Adele. Adele is phenomenally talented, and puts an outpouring of emotion into all of her songs; a huge part of her backstory is an abusive relationship. Zola Jesus is also extremely talented and infuses a lot of emotion into her tracks, but I like to think her backstory involves battling demons in a post-apocalyptic wasteland.
