Video! Jose Gonzalez - Far Away (Live)

I never thought I’d hear a new Jose Gonzalez song via a video game awards show performance, but I guess that’s the world we live in – a world in which people find out about new indie bands through car commercials and reality TV shows. I know, it’s weird hearing Jose’s beautifully introspective acoustic music backed by graphics from some cowboy shooting game (Anyone played that game? Is it any good?), but just go with it. You don’t wanna be one of those elitists that gets angry when their favorite indie acts start making some bank.

José González’s song “Far Away”, appearing in Red Dead Redemption, won ‘Best Song In A Game’ at the 2010 Spike Video Game Awards, which aired on Spike TV on Saturday, December 10th. Red Dead Redemption also took home the evening’s top honor by getting named “Game of the Year”. González, Junip’s singer and guitarist, was there and performed “Far Away” live at the awards ceremony which was held at the LA Convention Center. “Far Away” can be found on the Red Dead Redemption soundtrack.  Junip’s version of the song is on the Rope & Summit EP, which was released digitally May 25th, 2010 and is included in the deluxe version ofFIELDS, out now. Check out Jose Gonzalez play “Far Away” live at the 2010 Video Game Awards.
