We’ve come to expect dusty, bluesy rock from Cold War Kids – stuff that sounds right when it’s played in a dimly lit pool hall in the late hours of a weeknight. “Royal Blue” is a new sound for the guys – it’s the type of song you could take for a walk in the park, have a picnic with, or play as background music on a Saturday afternoon while you bake banana bread, or whatever you people are baking these days.
