New Carlos St. John. For his weekly “In Association” series, Carlos takes aim at Rick Ross’ Free Mason instrumental. I’ve seen this type of campaign before – you probably have too. Every week a rapper goes in over a new industry beat. To be honest, I usually skip over these types of campaigns. It’s like one step down from a mixtape when all I really want is some original material.
That being said, Carlos St. John is killing it. He’s got me looking forward to the weekly release and I haven’t been disappointed yet. This isn’t a collection of sloppy, unmixed lines thrown in over a muffled beat. These tracks are completely reengineered and optimized to fit Carlos’ style.
