Theophilus London - "Don't Be Afraid" and "I Want You" (Marvin Gaye Cover)

Theo has been dropping good track after good track, teasing us with little tastes of I Want You. Like scrambled porn, these random samplings from the mixtape don’t provide the clearest picture, but we can get a good idea of what’s going on, and we’re getting off on it. If you’re a “true hip-hop” head, Theophilus London might leave you with a migraine. His style is like a tasteful new outfit constructed from 20 pieces of clothing that you got from 20 different thrift stores in random parts of New York City. New wave and soul, tribal and pop, hip-hop and punk. Theo borrows a little from it all. It’s not always the cleanest, but if you’re okay with that musty smell, you might just find a new favorite outfit.

Theo clicked with me from the first time I heard him. I’m excited to hear this whole mixtape. I Want You will be out tomorrow, expect to see it here.
