I first got into The Chairs because of their awesome covers (Bon Iver’s “Flume” and Neutral Milk Hotel’s “In An Aeroplane Over The Sea”). Since then, I’ve heard a few songs by them and never been disappointed. When I got news that the lead singer was putting on his solo boots and taking the bandwagon for a spin, I immediately hopped on, whipped the horses, and rode off into the sunset with him. (?)
If my weirdspeak didn’t make things clear, I just mean to relay the news that Alex Ostrich, lead singer of The Chairs, has a solo project called Yellow Ostrich, I just heard the Carousels EP, which is going to be out soon, and I really like it. Alex’s voice and style of singing has always been what drew me to The Chairs, so this move appealed to me off the bat. Here is the first, and my favorite song off the Carousels EP. For fans of Death Cab for Cutie, Sufjan Stevens, Vampire Weekend, The Decemberists, and The Chairs.
