Alright alright alright…time for something different. At P&P, we try to supply music from all genres, but I’ll admit that pop is my weakness. First of all, most pop that ends up on the radio doesn’t do much for me, and I can’t keep up with it. (I thought Lady Gaga was just an internet sensation until I heard her on the radio a week back and then see her ass all over magazines). I never even listened to her hit song “Poker Face” until “Poke Her Face” was out.
That doesn’t mean I don’t like pop. I do. I usually like it with a touch of weirdness to counter the clean cut sound that often comes with it. La Roux provides that. (Look at her hair!) Her (their, since it’s apparently a duo) songs have all the classic elements of pop music: the synths, the hand claps, the simple song structure, but they also have a little bit of a sharp edge to them.
