Here goes a new one from Conor and company’s Outer South. Conor seems to be following this path of rootsy, American music. This one wouldn’t sound awkward if Conor was replaced with a Southern tongued crooner. It’s not a bad sound, but I think it’s a little predictable (listen to 3 seconds of this song and you’ll know what to expect for the remainder), and it seems like it forces him to hold back a little bit. Many have attributed this to Conor “growing up”, but I miss that shaky voice and a feeling that he could explode into a scream at any given point. Thanks to Stereogum.
