Back in summer last year, fraternal house music duo Funk Cartel teamed up with legendary, era-defining icon Ultra Naté (of “It’s Over Now” fame) for their new single “Supernatural”. A mix of playful flutes, jazzy brass and the iconic singer’s room-filling vocals, it found an immediate fan in Bristol-born DJ and producer GotSome who jumped at the chance to remix it.

Where the original played up the duo’s disco influences, GotSome’s remix cranks the bass up to give it a more pronounced 4x4 thump. Understandably, Ultra Naté’s vocals are left largely untouched, but he’s downplayed the flutes somewhat and pared the brass melodies down to a minimum.

So enamoured were the boys with the new remix they’ve put together some visuals to go with it. Packing a sort of vintage MTV vibe, directors Stanley Li and Tony Harewood put the duo along with Ultra Naté and a small handful of dancers against a green screen with hypnotising effects and bold block colours zig-zagging across the screen.

Hit play on the video up top and look out for the official release of GotSome’s “Supernatural” remix when it lands tomorrow via BMG.
