Nicki Minaj's promo tour for The Pinkprint stopped by Elliott Wilson's live interview series, CRWN, earlier this week, where he and Nicki engaged in a very open and candid discussion about a number of topics. Nicki talked about how her creative process for this album was different from her others, and how on her past albums she worked on them for about three months, but with The Pinkprint, she worked on the album for around a year.

She also touched on her recent breakup her longtime boyfriend, Safaree, and the current situation surrounding Lil Wayne and Birdman, revealing that Wayne is definitely upset about something within the label and that is may be more than just his album, Tha Carter V, getting pushed back. She said that while he is indeed angry, she believes and hopes that everything will work out and even called YMCMB one big dysfunctional family.

In the second clip, which can be viewed below, Nicki broke down some of her earlier collaborations and spoke in detail about "Monster" and how a record that massive came together. She also touched on how this was a record that if Jay Z and Kanye West weren't on it, she wouldn't have received all of the praise and acclaim that she did in the wake of it's release.

For a portion of the interview, Nicki talked about how when some artists, such as Kendrick Lamar, use animated types of voices they're praised, but when Nicki did the same she didn't get the credit. Making light of the situation, Nicki joked about the "King of New York" title in reference to Kendrick's "Control" verse, and said she likes and respects him but finds it funny that she was doing the same type of thing and being scolded for it.
