It's time to face the facts and admit that the only way to properly reboot The Matrix is with Charli XCX.
Charli dropped off her latest single, aptly titled "1999." The track features Troye Sivan and was produced by Oscar Holter, known for his previous work with Carly Rae Jepsen and Katy Perry. In an appropriately all-caps message to fans Thursday night, Charli named Sivan as one of her favorite artists and said what he’s doing for pop "is incredible and special and exciting."

"1999" arrives during a thrillingly prolific period for the pop futurist, who's spent the months since dropping the excellent Number 1 Angel and the equally excellent Pop 2 giving fans a hopefully never-ending supply of one-offs. The Sivan collab was preceded by the singles "5 in the Morning," "Focus," "No Angel," and "Girls Night Out."
