Busta Rhymes blasted rappers who rely on backing tracks while performing, telling a recent festival crowd that he and his peers are "cut from a different cloth that they don't make anymore."

The comments were made during Busta's performance at Lovers & Friends Festival over the weekend, where he spoke to the crowd before diving into his wordy verse on Chris Brown's "Look At Me Now."

“We come from a time where there was no additives. No unnecessary mixing, and diluting, and tampering with the holy, sacred, and pure,” he said. "We [are] the holy, sacred and pure."

Busta is far from the first rapper to criticize backup tracks. Back in 2017, Denzel Curry explained why some rappers have fallen off his radar due to tepid performances.

"I be lookin’ at shows and muthafuckas be playin’ they shit, and it be the fuckin’ soundtrack from the fuckin’ SoundCloud,” he said on Sway In The Morning.

While Lovers & Friends featured many noteworthy performances, all eyes were on Chris Brown and Usher, who prior to their Saturday performance had reportedly been involved in a scuffle at Skate Rock City in Las Vegas.

According to a report from Hollywood Unlocked, the fracas took place after a visibly intoxicated Brown acted in a “disrespectful” manner toward Teyana Taylor, causing Usher to intervene. Chris allegedly called the Confessions artist a “coward,” before the argument escalated outside the venue, where Breezy and his security team reportedly left Usher with a “bloodied nose.”

However, Usher appeared bruise-less during his performance, while Chris Brown took the stage as scheduled as well.
