Interview: Rae Sremmurd Talk "No Flex Zone" Success, Being Homeless, and Legendary High School Parties

Back in March, Rae Sremmurd rolled up with Mike WiLL Made It to SXSW and even performed "No Flex Zone" at the Complex Complex—and while the crowd started to turn up, they were practically unknown at the time. These days, the duo of brothers "Swae Lee" Khalif Brown and  20-year-old "Slim Jimmy" Aaquil Brown​ are riding high off the success of the Mike WiLL-produced track, a few remixes thanks to Nicki Minaj and Pusha T, and their latest single "No Type."

Life wasn't always a party for the Mississippi-via-Atlanta artists; a few years back, the two were making music and freestyling every morning in high school, but were briefly homeless for a bit before linking with their now-mentor. "You can have nothing and be sad or you can have nothing and be positive," Jimmy states.

When we caught up with the pair at the Complex offices, they opened up about what it meant for their career to be working with EarDrummers Entertainment, and the loyalty Mike WiLL's cosign has inspired in them.
