Praise Black Jesus for Worldstar. Without its latest Vine compilation, I wouldn't have known about the #michaelmctrap phenomenon that's hit Instagram over the last few weeks. What's #michaelmctrap, you ask? The idea is pretty damn simple: you take some classic footage of Michael McDonald—a legendary singer with a distinct voice who initially started out with the Doobie Brothers but won a Grammy with James Ingram and sang shit like "On My Own" with Patti LaBelle, a song your mom probably LOVES–and have someone mock him singing tracks from Future and Rae Sremmurd.

Sounds silly? That's because it is, but it's also downright amazing. Observe:

You get the idea. If you search for the #michaelmctrap hashtag on Instagram and Twitter, you'll find some more fire reworks in the same vein. The question is, WHERE THE HELL IS THIS COMING FROM!??!

One thing you'll notice is the "@AceVane" tag on all official #michaelmctrap videos. The official @michaelmctrap page on Instagram lists Ace Vane as his manager, also referencing a @MeanzMusic. Ace Vane is actually the creator of #michaelmctrap, and is 1/2 of a duo out of Jacksonville, Florida known as Meanz of Operation. While there's no real rhyme or reason for #michaelmctrap that we can find, it looks like if @michaelmctrap hits 10K followers, a mixtape will drop.

Um, do us a favor: Follow the hell out of that account, and tell your friends to follow, too. A mixtape jam-packed with these hilarious reworks is the only thing we want in life right now:
