The Más Tiempo train contains to thunder ahead as Skepta presents a new single on the nascent label: “Can’t Play Myself (A Tribute To Amy)”. If you were lucky enough to find yourself a spot in the crowd at Skepta and Jammer’s packed-out Arcadia set at Glastonbury 2023, this might sound familiar already.
The haunting and emotive house tune is built around a sample clipped from Amy Winehouse’s “Tears Dry On Their Own” (with the blessing of the Amy Winehouse Foundation). Honing on that Motown-inspired hook from the late soul singer, Skepta recontextualises it with a driving house beat to send a shiver down the spine of any raver.
