At just 18 years old, it may seem hard to believe but so-called newcomer Jasmine Thompson has already quietly but effectively built up an impressive fanbase across the globe through her own original songs and covers of the likes of Sia, Chaka Khan and Tears For Fears that she's uploaded to YouTube—some of which have racked up 30 or 40 million views. With jaw-dropping stats like that behind her, Thompson really couldn't have picked a better time than now to release her new EP Colour (out today).

She's already uploaded a handful of the tracks to YouTube, all of which have cruised past the 1 million streams mark, and now we've got the official video for the latest single, "Some People". Intimate and sincere, the heartwarming visuals follow friends and young couples as Thompson sends out a message of love and gratitude to a friend she worries is underappreciated. It's a simple sentiment, but it's one that's heartfelt and, coupled with her devastatingly powerful vocals, makes for an emotive piece of songwriting you won't forget in a hurry.

"I know my friend didn't always feel appreciated by the people that she put first. I loved her to pieces and wanted to make sure that she knew. I hope that she stays positive and will one day find the person that will give her the love she deserves."
