Born and raised in East London, but having spent her teenage years in Hertfordshire, Amber-Simone has used the last few years to steadily build up an impressive catalogue of singles. This year she’s gearing up for the release of her second EP and although she’s keeping the details close to her chest for now, she’s just teamed up with director Sophie Jones to put together a stunning three-track visual as a primer.

The new short film features three new tracks from a new batch of songs she’s been cooking up over lockdown. Last month, she kicked things off with the release of “Black, No Sugar” and a music video to boot. Now she’s back with this new short film, which combines the first video with two additional numbers, “Interlude” and “Potential”.

“Black, No Sugar” kicks things off with her and her band getting into it for an impassioned studio jam session that builds to a fiery crescendo. Then, after an instrumental interlude, we move into a more laid-back and intimate visual for “Potential”, a fresh new single that just dropped today. It’s a well-balanced batch and one that shows off Amber-Simone’s broad range of styles and approaches, from Gospel inflections to neo-soul and more modern R&B sounds.

Take in the short film at the top and make sure you add “Black, No Sugar” and “Potential” to your playlists.
