Now in its 26th year, the MOBO Awards will is hitting Sheffield for the first time ever, bringing its celebration of Black British music and culture to the Utilita Arena on February 7, 2024.
Hosts and performers are due to be announced imminently and this morning Kanya King and co have just announced the full list of nominees. Testament to the UK’s thriving music scene and the global influence of Black culture generally, it’s another stacked year.
Little Simz, who was last year’s big winner, leads the pack with four nominations (Best Female Act, Album of the Year, Video of The Year and Best Hip Hop Act) alongside Stormzy, who also has four (Best Male Act, Album of The Year, Song of The Year, Video of The Year).
Other potential big winners include Central Cee with three noms (Best Male Act, Song of The Year and Best Drill Act) and J Hus, also with three (Best Male Act, Album of The Year and Song of The Year.
Not just a celebration of Black music, the awards continue to expand the way they recognise Black culture as a whole. This year, they’re adding two new categories alongside the MOBO Lifetime Achievement Award and the Paving The Way award—MOBO Impact and MOBO Pioneer Award.
