Katy Perry just made chart history by becoming the first woman (and second artist ever, with the other being Michael Jackson) to send five songs from an album to the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100. This doesn't seem to impress Linda Perry.
The former 4 Non Blondes frontwoman has gone on to write hits for Alicia Keys, Gwen Stefani, Christina Aguilera, and Pink, but she's got no love for Katy. While talking about the current state of music, Linda says, "Who wants a fucking Katy Perry record? I'm sorry. You're gonna get two songs that are probably the hits that will be good, but the rest of the record is gonna be crap."
Linda goes on to clarify that she's not saying Katy is "bad," but that while she's great for what she does, she's not bringing substance or reinventing the wheel.
