Lil Yachty and Tee Grizzley make a complementary pair. On their new collaboration “Dynamic Duo,” Tee Grizzley comes out the gate with hard, dizzying bars that touch on his status in rap, lethal tendencies, and his come-up to fame. “Niggas say they got it out the mud/ I wish I had it that good, I got it out the cement, hold up,” he spits. Lil Yachty matches Tee Grizzley’s energy, spitting, “Hit the corner soft, let it off, then skirted off/ Now they seeing demons every time he turn and toss.” “Dynamic Duo” is a standout from Lil Yachty’s new mixtape Michigan Boy Boat. “Litty” is a mellow record from Young Thug and DaBaby that carries a country-pop vibe. Over soft strings and a booming bass, the pair center the song around women, designer jewels, and the party life. DaBaby kicks things off with an exciting verse, putting a lens on the girls in the room and his tinted cars. Young Thug focuses more on his millions, rapping, “I came a long way from a damn Honda Civic/ Now it cost a half a million and a band, though I’m chillin’.” The two come together on the chorus, harmonizing and singing throughout the record, which appears on the deluxe edition of YSL’s compilation album Slime Language 2. This might not be what you’d expect from Thugger and DaBaby, but it’s well worth the listen.

Cordae f/ Young Thug, “Wassup”

Young Thug was busy this week. “Wassup” is a hard-banging record that finds DMV’s Cordae meeting up with the ATL rapper. On the track, the duo trade bars, bragging about their fame, status, and riches. Cordae appears to take a page out of Thugger’s trap book as he lays down saucy, short-breathed bars over Take A Daytrip production. “What’s a high horse to a motherfuckin’ G.O.A.T. nigga?” Thug raps. Cordae is just as confident, claiming, “I am the greatest in my generation.” “Wassup” is a bouncy track that showcases Cordae’s fun and youthful side. The track appears on Cordae’s four-track EP Just Until…

Funk Flex f/ CJ, “You Know”

Funk Flex and Staten Island’s CJ joined forces on the their new collaboration “You Know.” On the track, CJ sounds hungry as he lays down fierce bars over a vintage sample. “I call up Flex when I flex/ Go ask Khaled, niggas know we the best,” he raps, with a shout-out to Funk Flex. “You Know” is a danceable record for sure, but it’s also one of those songs that you’d most likely hear blasting from someone’s car speakers. The track follows the success of CJ’s “Whoopty,” and is the latest release in a string of collaborations from Funk Flex’s media hub InFlexWeTrust. Read our new in-depth interview with Flex here.

The Weeknd f/ Ariana Grande, “Save Your Tears (Remix)”

The Weeknd has tapped Ariana Grande for the remix of his synth-heavy 80’s tune “Save Your Tears.” On the record, the duo sing of past relationships, remembering the good and tough times they experienced along the way. Ariana Grande holds back on the powerful notes, opting for softer and airy vocals as she holds back sad emotions. “I kept my distance cause I know that you/ Don’t like when I’m with nobody else/ I couldn’t help it, I put you through hell,” she sings. The song is at its best when the Weeknd and Grande are harmonizing. “Save Your Tears (Remix)∏ marks the duo’s third collaboration, and it’s the latest release of the Weeknd’s After Hours era.

SSGKobe, “Angels”

“Angels” is just the right amount of offbeat, as SSGKobe uses the style to perfection. On the track, the young rapper’s flow is hypnotizing as he whips through verses, with a mouthful of metaphors and wordplay. “I feel like I’m It, I feel like I’m Pennywise, I get a hit of this gas and I’m floating,” he raps. “Angels” appears on SSGKobe’s debut EP entitled KO., which dropped this Friday.
