We've been saying all year that Miley Cyrus is going to have a breakout year because she's been actively embracing hip-hop and courting the rap audience. She's done everything from pose for pictures while hanging out with rappers to twerk on stage at a Juicy J show

Today, in an interview with Billboard, she took it one step further. The cover story is centered around Miley's new found hip-hop edge and she's got some interesting things to say.

"A lot of people wanted to try to make me the white Nicki Minaj," said Cyrus, who actually dressed up as Nicki for Halloween last year. "That's not what I'm trying to do. I love 'hood' music, but my talent is as a singer."

Cyrus' quote comes just days after a member of the song writing duo Rock City claimed that Cyrus told them, "'I want urban, I just want something that just feels Black,'" in an interview with VIBE.

However, in her Billboard profile, Cyrus talked about her album saying, "It’s not a hip-hop album, though — it’s a pop album. I’m not coming in trying to rap. It’s more like, ‘I don’t see any girls out there doing what Miguel and Frank Ocean are doing.’”

Honestly, this just makes us want to hear her album that much more. Her current single "We Can't Stop" is currently No. 11 on the Billboard.
