"Friends" symbolises a new Jai Waetford. This isn't the kid you remember from The X Factor, but a fully-fledged pop machine with a fully loaded clip of catchy hooks. This new single finds him delving into the alt-R&B territory that acts like The Weeknd and Justin Bieber occupy, demonstrating his developing maturity as he continues to maneuver through the music industry. The production features a series of nocturnal, minimalist synths that provide plenty of space for Waetford's deep yet soulful vocals. The premise of the song is simple, as Waetford confidently asserts "I know all your friends and your friends know me". The family favourite seems to have a little flex in him.

“Friends” follows his last single “Get Over” and “Lost In You” that both took a more sombre approach to the pop formula. With the consistency that Waetford continues drop singles, it seems something bigger is coming soon. In the meantime, stream “Friends” below.
