A documentary about television station MuchMusic was supposed to premiere on streaming service Crave. Instead, its been pulled from its premiere date with no reason given.

As reported by The Canadian Press, the streaming service owner Bell Media "did not offer details on the decision" to remove 299 Queen Street West from its premiere date of last Friday on the calendar.

But the documentary's director Sean Menard has an idea of what happened. Last year, he said Universal Music Canada was trying to stop him from doing screenings across the country because the doc used unlicensed music. His explanation was that the music clips were short enough to fall under fair use guidelines.

At the time, it seemed like everything was resolved, but with Bell Media now shying away from putting 299 Queen Street West, something must still be up.

Menard's previous work includes 2017's The Carter Effect, about the impact of Vince Carter on the Raptors and Toronto culture at-large. Toronto Raptors DJ 4Korners talked about the movie and Carter in Complex Canada's recent Ice Edition.

Last October, Bell Media said they were close to digitizing all of MuchMusic's archives, so that could also explain why they're being protective of their footage at the moment. So far, the archives haven't turned up on YouTube or any other video streaming service.
