Rumors are circulating online about a possible physical altercation between Tory Lanez and August Alsina.
The story started with the Twitter account @GOTCITYTEA, which alleged that the two artists were involved in an incident after exchanging some negative talk online.
“Tory Lanez KO’d August Alsina tonight after August got froggy with Tory over something Tory said months ago. Tory was trying to show him love and August wanted to take it to a negative place & got knocked out!” the first tweet read.
In a follow-up, the account placed the onus on Alsina, writing, “August was the negative one , not Tory. August felt some kind of way because Tory said he wouldn’t have ‘snitched’ on jada like August did. Tory tried to shake his hand and August ignored him. Tory asked him about it and August got negative and told him to keep that same energy.”
The Instagram account, The Neighborhood Talk attempted to confirm the rumor and DM’d a screenshot of the tweet to Lanez on IG. According to The Neighborhood Talk, Lanez liked it. However, he then seemingly backtracked: “Tory hit us with a heart then removed it when we asked if the report was true about him and August getting into a lil scuffle,” the account wrote when sharing a screenshot of their DM conversation with Lanez.
Meanwhile, HotNewHipHop reports that Lanez commented on the post, writing, “That was an accident …. I didn’t confirm anything.”
Alsina has also chimed in to share his side of the story. He took to IG to post a photo of himself with a bloody mouth and described their interaction. He says Lanez approached him, apparently while flanked by eight security guards, and said Lanez was offended that Alsina didn’t greet him.
“Tory continues to ask w/ a broken ego why I didn’t dap him up, I go on to tell him.. I was a fan of him and didn’t understand him speaking on my business publicly In the past, because I don’t know him or ever met him until last night. So when he spoke it caught me off guard because of his past actions, i assumed he didn’t like me, that’s all.” Alsina continues, saying that due to his health, his doctor recommended that he not shake peoples’ hands to avoid COVID-19 and monkeypox.
Alsina then described how Lanez sucker-punched him. “Never any disrespectful words were exchanged, so I was a bit confused at how somehow he turnt him self up w/ anger … and he snuck me when I turned my head to move to the side amongst all his antsy moving and to keep an eye on the endless n***as that was w/ him surrounding me. … There was never a ‘fight’! Simply an Assault. Dude has no real friends, and is on a crash out mission.”
Alsina ended the post by asking Lanez’s people to release the footage of the incident, which Alsina says they have.
Sources also told Rolling Out that there was no fight between the two.
