Bay Area rapper Young Curt was killed in a car accident Contra Costa County, California, the local Fox affiliate reports.
Young Curt (born Curtis Denton Jr.) was involved in a rollover crash on early Monday morning. When officers responded, they found him laying on the dirt shoulder outside of his 2019 Dodge Charger. Denton was taken to a nearby hospital by ambulance, but died from his injuries.
It is believed that Young Curt lost control of his car on a turn. The vehicle flipped multiple times and crashed into an embankment. Investigators say that the rapper was thrown through the sunroof and landed on the shoulder where police found him.
The 27-year-old rapper rose to fame in 2009 with his debut project, This Shyt Dont Stop, Vol. 1. Through this tape and ensuing work, Young Curt generated a cult-like fanbase. Fans and artists—including Kehlani, Kamaiyah, Guapdad 4000, and more—have taken to Twitter to eulogize the late rapper and pay their respects.
