Maluma has tapped J Balvin for the new song and video “Qué Pena.” It's their first collaboration together.

Produced by Edgar “Edge” Barrera, Sky Rompiendo, and DeeMad, the video opens with the Colombian artists imitating the way each other interacts with and posts on social media. The artists then party together, flirting with girls they may or may not have met before. While many often see Maluma and Balvin as competitors, with “Qué Pena,” they show that they are organic collaborators.

“I think that to do music with someone, it has to be beyond whether that person is trending,” Balvin told Complex during a joint cover story with Bad Bunny last year. “There has to be chemistry and respect. I record with people who people ‘don’t know’ but that I admire and respect. I think all of that is in the vibes.”

Maluma's last studio album, his fourth, was 11:11. The project, which featured appearances from Nicky Jam, Ricky Martin, Ozuna, Madonna, Ty Dolla Sign, and others, dropped back in May of 2019.
