Following the release of teases in which Ye discussed his mother's ongoing legacy and outfitted the host in Yeezy, Netflix has shared a brief excerpt from West and Letterman's discussion on the bipolar experience, a focal point in the episode that (as previously reported) also saw West clarify that he does not advocate for a uniform rejection of mental health medications.
"I can just tell you what I'm feeling at the time," West tells Letterman in this minute-long preview. "I feel a heightened connection with the universe when I'm ramping up. It is a health issue. This is like a sprained brain, like having a sprained ankle, and if someone has a sprained ankle, you're not gonna push on them more."
Letterman, as I noted in a highlights-focused piece on the episode earlier this week, eases into the wide range of topics covered in the new My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with a calm and understated approach. Though he does press West on certain issues, he comes from an angle of attempting to find some common ground, a method that resulted in crucial moments like the aforementioned medications clarification and his candid thoughts on the bipolar experience excerpted in today's clip.
Hopefully, the appearance of a new West chat will also lead to the official release of whatever this Ty Dolla Sign collab ends up being called.
