Post Malone and Swae Lee on a track together seemed like a no-brainer to run up the Billboard Hot 100 chart. A few months after debuting at No. 9, "Sunflower" is now the No. 1 song in the country.
The record, which was released on Oct. 18, has been a constant in the top 10, and its inclusion on the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse soundtrack has likely helped its chart dominance, though the No. 1 spot is nothing new to either artist. Prior to "Sunflower," Post Malone counted "Rockstar" and "Psycho" as chart-toppers, while Swae Lee had earned two of his own as one half of Rae Sremmurd ("Black Beatles") and guesting on Travis Scott's "Sicko Mode."
The single is currently sitting on a gold certification from the RIAA, but based on its success, platinum status and beyond is not far off.
They previously collaborated on "Spoil My Night" off Malone's sophomore album Beerbongs & Bentleys, which hit No. 15 on the Billboard Hot 100. We wouldn't be surprised if a proper single release led to it climbing higher. There's still time.
This achievement should bring some light to both artists. Over the weekend, Malone lost a $20,000 bet to YG as his Dallas Cowboys took the L against the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC divisional round. Swae Lee, meanwhile, dealt with some Rae Sremmurd breakup rumors over a number of since-deleted tweets from brother Slim Jxmmi. The rumor would be squashed by the end of the weekend, with Jxmmi declaring it's "Sremm 4 Life."
