It's been over a year since Vancouver-based electronic outfit I M U R released their debut project Little Death, but they've been keeping busy since, playing festivals—including Bumbershoot's main stage—and opening for the likes of Jorja Smith and Hayley Kiyoko. Lucky for us, they've also been finding time to write and record new music, and the threesome has a new EP entitled THIRTY33 ready to release. Today I M U R presents the first single, an intimate cut called "Miss You Hate You" which you can stream via Spotify below.

“Miss You Hate You” is a powerful dear diary entry from lead singer, Jenny Lea, based on her struggle with addiction.  "This was a very important but difficult song for me to write," Lea says of the track. "I'm opening up about a very private part of my life in hopes to connect with others that might be struggling, and to let them know that they're not alone." The group also notes the versaility of the track as being a driving force behind the choice to make it the first single: "If you want to groove, get down, be pensive or straight up cry, you can take from it what you need and we're happy to give it to you. 'MYHY' is a candid and vulnerable piece from I M U R that is centered around a subject that, because of the stigma associated with it, is often a silent struggle in our culture today. Some people want more than straight clout, and we aren’t pulling any punches on this one."

THIRTY33 was written during a writing trip the trio took to Montreal last spring, which gave them a new setting and new inspiration versus their previous work. "We really took our time with it, writing about 30 songs," the group shares of the process, "and then narrowing it down to 8 pieces that feel really good together. With this project we really focused on structure and space, going in and adding layers and layers of cool shit, just to then peel back melodies and instrumentation until each song told a clear story (it’s a constant learning experience)." THIRTY33 will also mark the first material that the group worked on since Amine (and his violin) joined the group, bringing another yet of influences to the group's experimental, evocative sound,
