Mustard has shared the first volume of his Don't Box Me series, including his take on Lil Uzi Vert's gargantuan hit "XO Tour Llif3" that he teased at last week's Ottawa Bluesfest:
Don't Box Me also sees Mustard reimagining Gambino's Awaken, My Love! single "Redbone" and Khalid's American Teen introduction "Location." Stream the three-track EP in full below.
Mustard's Monday also included the Beats 1 premiere of Ty Dolla Sign's "Love U Better" with Lil Wayne and The-Dream, which he co-produced with Twice as Nice.
In May, he and YG made their artistic reunion super official with the release of the Trinidad and Tobago-shot video for their collaboration "Pop It, Shake It."
Ahead of the release of last September's Cold Summer project, Mustard outlined his aversion to staying inside the proverbial box when putting together collaborations. "They all came about while I wasn’t working on a project," he explained to Billboard. "I was just working on songs all summer and before the summer. I was trying to drop a project at the beginning of the summer but I just didn’t feel like I was ready and then I went on tour with Rihanna."
The Rihanna tour, Mustard revealed, gave him a massive spike in social media followers. As the follower count started to rise, requests from fans old and new to drop more music started rolling in. "Then I just figured one day that I could put it all together and make it work," Mustard said.
