We have to hold our hands up here: we shamefully, unforgivably let this one slip under the radar. We don't know what to say—there's no excuse. Still, we're here now. So, groveling aside, if you made the same mistake as us then you really need to get to know Jorja Smith's new track, "Blue Lights", which originally surfaced online last week. Crafting some of the most blissful, affecting R&B since Lauryn Hill, Smith eschews poppy hooks for raw, unbridled emotion and even gives a nod to Dizzee Rascal's "Sirens" in the process. What we're left with is a hugely memorable piece of songwriting coupled with astounding delivery. Here is a singer utterly in-tune with her own abilities and, if there's any justice in the world, poised for greatness.
