Things might go from bad to worse for Martin Shkreli, asTMZ is reporting that the government could seize the one-of-a-kind Wu-Tang Clan album, Once Upon a Time in Shaolin, from him. Shkreli, who purchased the album from the group and RZA for $2 million, was arrested last week for securities fraud. Interestingly enough, Shkreli's arrest came just a day after he said he wanted to bail Bobby Shmurda out of jail.
Shkreli was eventually released on $5 million bail, and initially, the NYC FBI account tweeted that they did not seize the Wu-Tang Clan album from Shkreli. The hitch in the case is that if the prosecutors find that Shkreli used any of the $65 million he's accused of taking in the fraud case to purchase the album, then it could be taken by the government. The report states that while the album could be auctioned off if it were seized, it's unclear how that would fall in line with Wu-Tang's stipulation that the album is non-transferable for 88 years. Basically this whole thing could get tricky going forward. We'll continue to update this story as more details emerge.
