Premiere: DJ Slow's First Remix Ever is This Jazzy Take on Joakim's "Each Other"

Joakim's "Each Other" gets a sexy rerub from Pelican Fly head DJ Slow.

While NY (by way of France) artist Joakim captivated hearts and minds with his last album,  Tropics Of Love, he's also bringing forth the first remix from DJ Slow, a guy who you should know, but might now. Slow runs Pelican Fly, aka the label that's helped introduce artists like Cashmere Cat, Lido, Sinjin Hawke, Nadus, and others to the world. He's known for his expert ear and intricate selection, but on the beats? This is intriguing.

For his debut, Slow linked up with J. Chatelain to put a spin on the mellow bounce of Joakim's "Each Other." While the original rocks to the beat of its own brooding electronic bop, Slow and Chatelain decided to distort the original's vocals (from Dragons Of Zynth's Akwetey) and give it a chilled, downright jazzy vibe. It still works just as beautifully as it did originally, but this one gives it more of a "staring into bae's eyes at the ass crack of dawn" vibe than the more '80s-infused original.

If this is what Slow has to offer on the beats, we're looking forward to more of his material. You can cop this on April 27 via the Each Other remix EP.

And if you dig this, check out the OTHER remix on this release, from a / jus / ted (aka NYC duo DJ Justin Strauss & Teddy Stuart):
