Album: The Big Picture (1974–1999)
Producer: Lord Finesse
Sometimes you just have to tip your hat off to Jay-Z even attempting to freestyle with Big L in 1997. It shouldn't have to be reiterated by now, but Big L traumatizes mics when he's given a chance to let loose. So when he got on the Stretch & Bobbito show again, it's hard to be surprised at what went down.
One has to question if Big L was really as tired as he says he is on this recording. But if he was, this was a true show of determination. Big L was razor-sharp, and even that's an understatement because razors don't even cut that sharp. They don't give lines like, "Turn your tux red, I'm far from broke, got enough bread/And mad hoes, ask Beavis I get nothing Butthead." Then again, what else can you expect from a great?
