A man had to take a trip to the hospital when he crashed his car into the second floor of a home in Pennsylvania.
According to News Channel 8, Junction Fire Company was called to help the Decatur Volunteer Fire Company with an accident where a Toyota Corolla crashed into the upper floor of a house. The driver, 20-year-old Evan Miller, had been removed from the car and transported to Geisinger Lewistown Hospital by Fame EMS. Three people were home when the crash happened, but none were hurt.
The crash was also intentional, according to an investigation by state police, though the Washington Post notes that law enforcement didn't give additional details, "such as a motive for the crash and whether Miller knows the family that lives there."
The driver was going down the road at a high speed and went off course into a nearby field. A change in elevation between the field and the house caused the car to go flying due to its speed.
“The raise and elevation from the bottom and top of the culvert was enough to give the vehicle the ability to clear the vehicles in the driveway and land in the second floor of the house,” Sam Baumgardner, the administrator of the Junction Fire Company told the Post.
Miller was hit with charges including aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person, and criminal mischief. If he is convicted of aggravated assault, he could see five to 20 years in prison.
Safety crews were able to keep the building intact and assisted the homeowners in protecting the house from upcoming rainstorms. Fire crews were on the scene for about three hours.
