Rutting season is another phrase for the mating season to elks. The period typically occurs in the fall, between September and October.

The video shows the elk keeping its eyes on the car as it rammed into it again as it tried to leave.

With over 14.4 million views and 437,500 likes, the video has caught the attention of many on the social media platform.

"Does yalls insurance have 'elk rutting season protection?'" one commenter asked, amassing 16,000 likes.

"Just sitting there was crazy," said another TikTok user.

Someone else asked about the effects of honking, to which another person replied, "It may have aggravated it more, or caused the herd on the side of the road to spook and run out on the highway."

One user didn't seem thrilled with the idea of waiting for the elk to leave.

"I would frantically be calling the police screaming there's a huge deer attacking my car."

Hyundai USA noticed that the car in question was their brand and left a simple comment that read "Ouch."
