Finding bugs on public transit can be worrying, but spotting bed bugs on your commute is a whole other ballgame.

A video posted to TikTok over the weekend that amassed over 400,000 views showed what people seem to believe is a bed bug crawling around the fabric on the seats.

CTV News reported that the person who published the video said they filmed it on Line 1 on Oct. 15 in the afternoon.

Given the recent uptick in bed bugs coming from France, some people are speculating that the bugs are making their way to Canada.

"My guy flew all the way from Paris," the TikTok caption wrote.

In the comments section, people urged the TTC to do away with cloth fabric seats and replace them with plastic.

"Omg the TTC needs to get rid of the cloth fabric chairs!!! We need to bring back those orange plastic benches on the TTC subways," one user wrote.

"Petition to install plastic seats," another said.

Some even took a moment to remind people to change out of their daytime clothes when they come home.

"And this is why you don’t sit on your bed with outside clothes," someone wrote.

The TTC explained to CTV News that despite its best efforts to clean its vehicles every day, bed bugs can find their way onto them "from time to time."

“While not common on the TTC, this is something public transit agencies around the world have to deal with,” Stuart Green of the TTC told CTV News in an email.

CTV News also asked if the TTC had plans to replace the cloth fabric seats with plastic, though the TTC has yet to respond.

When Paris Fashion Week ended, experts warned celebrities returning to the U.S. about the recent infestation of beg bugs in the French city.
