The co-founder and former president of a real estate company in Quebec has been arrested in connection with arson attacks against buildings tied to his competitors.

According to CTV Montreal, Christophe Folla, who co-founded Sutton Quebec, was arrested on Wednesday concerning arson attacks against the Royal LePage offices and RE/MAX offices, both competitors in the real estate space, in Saint-Sauveur, Quebec.

Folla, along with two others, face charges of "conspiracy to commit arson and damage to property by fire or explosion."

La Presse added that there were at least "8 criminally set fired and two other attempted firebombings" in connection with the case.

The story caused a stir online in Quebec. Commenters on Cult MTL's Instagram post on the subject shared their thoughts.

"Seriously what is wrong with this province," said popular local account FNoMTL.

"Montreal taking fire sales to a whole new level," said another commenter.

"I thought this was a joke, had to read it twice," was a popular response, as was the suggestion that Quebec "is becoming the Florida Man of Canada?"
