A shooting in Norfolk, Virginia has left two people dead and three injured.

The Virginian-Pilot reports that the incident took place outside of a restaurant and bar on early Saturday morning. A young reporter, 25-year-old Sierra Jenkins, and 25-year-old Devon M. Harris were caught in the crossfire and killed. Jenkins was a breaking reporter for The Virginian-Pilot before she shifted to education.

Three men sustained wounds, with one suffering life-threatening injuries. The police haven’t identified any suspect or suspects involved in the shooting, which happened at Chico’s Pizza Backstage. Jenkins and her best friend had gone out and were leaving when an argument led to gunfire.

“She wasn’t much of a going-out kind of person at all,” Maurice Jenkins, her father, told the outlet. “But she had a friend visiting from out of town who wanted to go out.”

“Everyone loved her,” he added. “She was such an energetic, caring, and giving person. A real go-getter. She’d do anything for anyone.”

Jenkins’ editor had been attempting to contact her to cover the shooting but couldn’t get in touch with her.

“We are saddened to learn of the passing of Virginian-Pilot & Daily Press reporter Sierra Jenkins,” The National Associated of Black Journalists tweeted. “She was a talented reporter with a bright future ahead of her. We send condolences to her family and colleagues.”
