A police officer from Jamaica is being charged with smuggling cocaine into the U.S. with the intent to distribute it, after allegedly hiding it in and on her body, according to NBC Miami

Shelian Cherine Allen, 42, is being accused of flying from Montego Bay, Jamaica to the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport in Florida on Feb. 3 with a cocaine package in her vagina and two additional packages in her bra, all of which were discovered during a U.S. Customs and Border Protection inspection.

She also reportedly swallowed 90 pellets of packaged cocaine, which were found in her stomach, making a total of 1,350 grams of cocaine found on her as she arrived in the U.S.

An indictment obtained by The Gleaner indicated that Shelian Cherine Allen and other known and unknown persons conspired to commit fraud by wire and mail.

Allen—who had worked for the Jamaica Constabulary Force for 18 years and was previously reported to be part of a $1.69 million lottery scam—has since been charged with importation of 500 grams or more of cocaine and possession with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine, and faces up to 40 years on each count. The case was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations and CBP Miami, and will be prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney William T. Shockley.

As the Jamaica Gleaner reports, Allen was previously under “observation” since 2019 after attempting to carry out a telemarketing and mass marketing scheme that targeted elderly people.
