A young girl in India is making medical history for something straight out of a nightmare: There's an ant colony living inside her head.
According to the Times of India, 12-year-old Shreya Darji has had 10 to 12 ants coming out of her ears every day since last August. Darji's doctors have no idea why the ants have colonized her head, nor have they ever seen a similar case before.
The good news—sort of—is that Darji is not in any physical pain. The questionable news? Doctors couldn't find a queen ant who might have laid the eggs, so they're unsure of the ants' source.
Darji's parents told the Times that they've taken her to several ENT specialists. Dr. Jawahar Talsania, who removed 10 ants from the 12-year-old's ear in late January, told the publication that if ants continue to crawl out of Darji's ears, video observation might be the best way to figure out where they're coming from.
