Today (October 1) marks the start of Black History Month here in the UK, and rising vocalist Shaé has marked the event by dropping off some glowing visuals for her new release "Melanin". Inspired by the tragic 2015 death of Sandra Bland and the growing worldwide tide of black consciousness, Shaé's visuals for "Melanin" represents black women of all shades and she expresses this throughout with a smooth, soaring vocal performance.
Directed and filmed by Cat Amoroso, Shaé also ties in collaborations and sponsorships with designers and skincare brands to help deliver the overarching message. Speaking with Complex over email, the London-based act explained that "instead of expressing my frustrations towards this issue, I chose to channel my energy towards promoting love and unity within, and amongst, black people in such trying times."
