This past month has been full of ups and downs for Kodak Black, but it seems he’s attempting to end it on a positive note.

On Wednesday night, the 20-year-old Florida rapper delivered a new track called “My Cousin” on his official YouTube page. The song arrives nearly a month after Kodak was released from jail, and finds the rapper reflecting on his past struggles as well as the recent shooting of his cousin:

“My cousin just got hit up, damn I wanna slide though/Even though I’m on house arrest, I wanna ride though/But if I go to prison, I know my momma gonna cry though,” he raps before he addresses what’s at stake. “Nigga went from wearing baggy jeans to dressing casually/From being in the newspapers, now I’m on magazines/I’m choppin’ up with Master P, he told me to keep God first/Doing venues now, selling out concerts/I’m trying to keep a tunnel vision, trying to see it his way/But I got blood in my eyes, I’m tired of seeing this way.”

You can listen to “My Cousin” below.

Kodak dropped his first post-jail track “First Day Out” about two weeks ago. Since then, he’s found himself surrounded by controversy after saying he doesn’t “really like black girls” on Instagram Live. The rapper deleted his IG shortly after the backlash began; however, his account is now re-activated
