Save for the release of their 4RE PLAY EP, which dropped at the top of last year, 2016 ended out relatively quiet for east London duo PBGR (Play Broke Get Rich). Comprised of rappers Crunch and Swarve, the pair have put an end to their brief hiatus—revealing they were in fact cooking up—and if latest single "Hardway" is anything to go by, they're lining up a year of consistent throwback R&B-infused rap. Led by a sample of crisp drum patterns, employed by Timbaland for Aaliyah's "One In A Million", "Hardway" carries PBGR's trademark of world-weary wisdom wrapped in rapid-fire wit and a melodic rap-sung chorus. Complete with a well-shot visual employing colour contrast and shadow exposure, it's a welcome step back into the limelight for PBGR.
