Father's Day is this Sunday, and if you're fortunate enough to know who yours is, that means showing your appreciation by spending cash on him. Of course, there are plenty of ways this can go wrong, but there's only so much we can cover when it comes to style.
That's why we rounded up some of the tackiest things you can gift to the old man on his special day, the kind of things that would make us cringe if someone we knew was seriously considering giving this stuff to their dad. Be warned. Here are The 10 Least Stylish Father's Day Gifts.

Manbags
10. Manbags
Nothing says “you’re the man, dad!” like a super chic totebag. Except not. Come on, Dad is an old dude. He has no need for sleek leather backpacks or of-the-moment messenger bags. Sure, a nice Dunhill briefcase or trusty Filson might do the trick, but chances are that these days, the regrets he had rearing you and putting your ass through college only to face a bleak job market and wholly uncertain future are probably the heaviest luggage he carries.
Novelty Graphic Tees
9. Novelty Graphic Tees
Once you graduate high school, you should no longer be allowed to buy these cop-out gifts for your dad. Yeah, they're kind of awesome, and they do have a cultural reference point thanks to this Seinfeld episode, but this is the sort of thing you can only get away with once. But... there's no problem in getting him some high-quality T-shirts as a little token of appreciation, especially when they're as soft as the ones from James Perse. The fit is generous enough to accomodate a little bit of "dad gut" and they're not super expensive like these Kanye West-approved Balmain tees.
"Of The Month" Clubs
8. "Of The Month" Clubs
Sure, they sound legit. "Dad loves shirts. He'll get a different one each month now!" Except here's the thing: you're not the one picking out the gift, some anonymous person is, and unless your mom, girlfriend, or sibling happens to work for that company, any sort of sentiment that would go into the gift is now in the hands of a random person. If your dad likes shirts, then buy him one he would really wear, but also has a little of your style in it. Does he not have a chambray shirt? Cop him one. Do you think he'd rock a spread collar button down? Yeah, buy him that. Don't let a catalog pick out your gift for you. The man used to change your freakin' diapers for crying out loud, so show some effort.
Scented Candles
7. Scented Candles
Scented candles... really? You're gonna show your appreciation for the man who brought you up... by making his house smell like vetiver and saffron? Yeah... you might wanna rethink that. Sure, we're all about upping your candle game in your own place, but chances are dad has a different idea of the ambiance he wants to set in his domicile. Opt for a pricey aftershave or designer cologne instead.
Dad Jeans
6. Dad Jeans
Giving dad a pair of jeans is great, but make sure you're upgrading his style a bit, which means they shouldn't have an elastic waistband, and they shouldn't be stonewashed. On the other hand, he might find raw denim uncomfortable and totally gross, because when you get on in your years you can't make the kind of commitment to wear your jeans for six months without washing; you've made enough commitments by then. The answer? One-wash denim that's dark enough to be versatile while comfortable enough to not chafe him. And get him a nice straight leg jean, because he's probably too old for nut-huggers.
Underwear
5. Underwear
Why would you ever buy your dad underwear? If you've ever taken the time to think of dad in his underwear... you probably have some deep-seeded issues you need to think about for a little while. He's a grown man. Let him take care of his undergarments and get him a real present.
Hair Loss Treatments Products
4. Hair Loss Treatment Products
It might seem thoughtful, but Father's Day generally isn't a time to call attention to dad's receding hairline, rather, you should show your appreciation by giving him the sort of luxuries he wouldn't really buy himself. Besides, if dad's really that serious about his hair, it'd be better to coordinate with the rest of the fam about investing in some real treatment rather than a temporary fix.
Novelty Ties
3. Novelty Ties
No self-respecting man would ever wear this to work, or anywhere, really. While they might be fine for the kitschy spirit of the holidays, the only appropriate time to wear a tie like this would be on Father's Day... so giving it to him on that day would be a moot point. Instead get him something he'll wear over and over, whether it's a classic tie from someone like Alexander Olch or a new interpretation from The Hill-Side.
Coffee Mugs
2. Coffee Mugs
If you give dad a coffee mug for Father's Day, each morning cup of joe will be flavored by the bittersweet fact that he gave you so much, and all he got was this fucking piece of porcelain.
Cell Phone Belt Holster
1. Cell Phone Belt Holster
This was never socially acceptable, this will never be socially acceptable, and by enabling your dad to carry on this abominable accessory, you are making the planet a worse place. Give dad some class, like a combination wallet/iPhone case from WANT Les Essentiels De La Vie.
