Ian Connor's Summer Style Tips

"King Of The Youth". "Dutty". Ian Connor has quite a few names for himself. For those who perhaps have not been on Tumblr/Twitter/Instagram in the past year, Connor is a 19-year-old model/creative who has taken streetwear by storm via his personal style and outlandish social media personality. To be completely honest, even after meeting with Ian and hanging out with him for an afternoon, we still aren't entirely sure what exactly it is that he does or creates, and we're pretty sure that's the point. Ian bounces from project to project, using each as leverage for the next, whether it be styling, modeling or just existing (he also served as the print for Wil Fry's latest jersey/short set). Love him or hate him, he's created one hell of a personal brand—a following out of nothing— proving, once more, just how fucking awesome and ridiculous the Internet really is. We talked to him about his plans this summer, the perfect pair of sneakers and, most importantly, how to avoid the thirst that has claimed the lives of so many men before him.

On Social Media Hollering...

"Yo, for real, dudes be writing, like, paragraphs on girls' photos on Instagram. I just do sad faces or wait for them to just hit me up or comment on a photo."

On The Perfect Sneaker...

"It doesn't matter what else I'm wearing, I always wear [Vans] Sk-8 Hi's. I've had these, like, since the beginning of the year."

On Phones...

"I keep two phones, one for more business and the other just for pleasure. One has a number that anyone can have and the other is just for more important things. The black one is for business."

On Smoking...

"I always keep a fresh pack of Newports."

On Haircuts...

“I probably got my hair cut four months ago. I just thug it out. I was with my manager at A$AP Bari’s and some guy just always wanted to cut my hair I guess. Some guy who just knew about me said, ‘It would be an honor to cut your hair.’”

On Logos...

I usually don't wear clothes with logos on them or nothing. I'm wearing this Palace shirt just because it got sent to me."

On Jewelry...

"I like this bracelet because it's expandable and gold. I've been wearing it since I got it. It's by my girl Genevieve Jones."

On Finding Your Drug Of Choice...

"I don't smoke weed anymore. I just realized it wasn't for me. I get so bored. I just sip the lean sometimes."

On Finding Your Inspiration...

"Cash Money and No Limit Inspired me to get into fashion."

On Travel...

"I am going to London soon. I just feel like I belong there."

On Dressing For The Weather...

"I don't really care about the weather. I just like clothes."

On Making New Friends...

“There is this girl I like, and we were hanging out and her phone charger broke, so I had some kid drive like an hour and 30 minutes just to drop off a charger. I just put on Twitter that I needed an iPhone 5 charger and he did it. I said that I would reward, and then we were just talking over DM’s and he was like ‘I’m here’ and I came outside to come get it, and he was like, ‘Do I get a gift?’ and the girl I was with just gave him a hug."
