We make sacrifices in our lives for the things we love, and whether it's friends, family, or the unabashed pursuit of being the most stylish dude in the game. Sure, being stylish has its own perks, and while your outfits will be on fleek, you're going to have to skimp on some of life's best experiences in order to keep your closet out well into the flex zone. You can't have it all, unfortunately. These are 10 Things Stylish Guys Sacrifice in Life for the Sake of Stunting.
Productivity
When you're home, you're thinking about how to flex on your friends. When you're at work, you're shopping. Your mind is focused (at least partially) on clothes and how to stunt at every possible moment at all times. Work of any kind is secondary to your purchases. Besides, you're only working at this point so you can afford a place to store your clothing archives.
Free Time With Friends
Your friends want to get brunch this Saturday morning. “Too bad,” you tell them, you've been on line (or online) since Friday afternoon and you're not making plans to leave any time soon. Sure your friends are disappointed and a little pissed off, but your new pick up (unlike your friends) are what's literally going to keep you warm at night…and days when you wear it.
Grocery Money
Whether they're going on a juice diet to fit into the Thom Browne they copped in the wrong size, or deciding on whether or not to pass up on food in the sake of scoring the next grail piece. Chances are, if you're about this men's fashion™ life, you're going to be contemplating weeks of ramen or strategizing your grocery money.
Respect of Your Parents
Parents want you to succeed where they have failed. They want you to spend and save wisely. Eventually, it's likely they want you to settle down, and provide them with some grandkids. What part of ignoring your girlfriend, skipping work to attend sample sales, and spending an entire month's paycheck on a Tom Ford penis necklace will make any sense to them?
Sleep
If you're going to wait by your computer for hours on end, sniping out deals and beating the bots, you're going to need a hell of a trigger finger and a lack of sleep. if you're camping out, do you really think that you're going to get any real sleep on a dirty city sidewalk? Between waiting on lines and checking for random drops on twitter (cough…YeezyIIs…cough), there's no doubt that you're either going to stay up or literally get slept on. As they say, the early bird gets the J's.
Comfort
Sure those Band of Outsiders trousers were a must cop, but your normal size was sold out and you really needed them for this photo shoot you've been planning for your blog. Your nether region is pinched into submission, but at least you can take solace in the fact that you look trill as fuck.
A Decent Education
In school you were always cutting class—not because you didn't care about your schoolwork—but because the latest release took precedence. Year after year of skipping lessons and hitting up major sales has left you slightly behind your peers. Fortunately for you, you can always teach book smarts, but they can't teach style and good taste.
Job Opportunities
Spending hours deciding what to wear to your next job interview is not the same as actually preparing for it. While you know you look fresh as fuck, your prospective employer isn't going to care if you your suit is from Tom Ford or from Men's Wearhouse when you can't answer even his most basic questions about your professional ambitions, or you know, the fact that you were too busy deciding what collar to wear that you did zero research on the company you're interviewing at.
Cherished Memories
While your best friends were having a great time blacking out at the club, you were blacking out at Opening Ceremony on your insane shopping spree. When you do go out on the town, you're spending every possible moment bragging about your kit and flexing on your friends. If you're even lucky enough to even have a crew after all the bullshit you put them through, you're going to be missing out on some quality time with the homies.
Significant Others
No person, no matter how much they love you, will take “shopping” as an excuse for not hanging out. A relationship is all about give-and-take, and if you're giving more time to building your extensive closet full of expensive clothes, spending your date night money on your latest “must have,” and using her as your personal photographer, the relationship is effectively D.O.A.
