Putting The Classic Back Into Clothes Or Clothes Onto The Classic?

Those classical Louvre sculptures are always so scantily dressed it's a wonder that no one's ever thought about putting actual clothes on them, till now. [Editor's note: I'm pretty sure a bunch of Popes did that to the Vatican's sculpture collection at various times.] French art director Alexis Persani came up with the idea of Photoshopping modern day outfits on to these archaic wonders and the result looks pretty damn cool. Who'd have thought wayfarers and denim jackets would blend in seamlessly with the Renaissance Period. I mean, people always say that shit is "classic" and "timeless," but we now totally buy it. Persani worked with photographer Léo Caillard who photographed the sculptures first and then got his friends to pose similarly in modern threads like flannel shirts and cuffed jeans. He was then able to create some strikingly realistic mockups using Photoshop and titled the series "Street Stone."
