The injury, which is being described as potential ligament issues in his foot, occurred in the opening moments of the game when Holmgren was attempting to stop LeBron James on a fast break.

Footage from the game shows Holmgren land awkwardly on his right foot after the possession and immediately begin to limp down the court. He would not play for the rest of the game after sustaining the injury, but he did stick around on the bench until it ended.

Ugh.

Awful news regarding the Chet Holmgren injury.

Now we wait for further details. Ligament damage in the foot has many different outcomes as far as recovery time goes. https://t.co/9K40NTWpDl

Beyond the injury itself, the crappy part of Chet Holmgren getting injured is that many are already screaming about "damn pro-am!"

Guys are playing somewhere all the time. This one just happened to be seen by a ton of people. Lots of guys get hurt in private runs. It happens.

After this Chet Holmgren injury diagnosis, #NBA teams would be insane to let any player screw around participating in a pro am. I don’t understand how this wasn’t already a given. pic.twitter.com/QwZ8h304vR

We know very little about this injury to Chet Holmgren today, but what we can be certain is the Thunder have no reason to rush anything

The long timeline for foot ligament damage is 6-8 months. That could mean the whole season

I’m not saying that’s what it is, but it’s possible

That's awful news about Chet Holmgren. Injuries are the worst part of sports, injuries to kids that are just starting their careers are even worse. Hoping he comes back 100%.
